About Us!
Who the heck is Roy and Sherri Rapp!
He’s a man who loves to use the line “I’m 39 and holding” actually numbers mean nothing to him although for those that do feel it’s important, he’s in the 50 category!
He’s the Father of 2 beautiful children, Bill and Shannon which he would give his life for as well as his best friend and loving wife, Sherri. One that I have to say….Is an eBay Junkie!! Seriously, she loves eBay and actually does very well with it. There have been times when I was afraid I would come home and find nothing left in our house! No kidding she is an eBay addict! Honestly, I wonder how she puts up with me! (LOL)
In his younger days he was quite a rock head who chose to learn the hard way in many aspects of his life. Technology was “BS” in his mind and had no desire to learn anything about it.
He came home from the service in 1977 after 3 tours overseas and although he grew up very quickly, he still thought of himself as being bulletproof and untouchable from the real world.
Not having a clue as to what he wanted to do as a civilian he always had a desire to drive a big truck. Memories of the semi’s and playing with toy trucks as a child were still vivid memories at 21.
Long story short, he expressed his desire to his Dad who drove for many years prior to working at a local factory where he and Roy’s Mom decided was the place for him to be in order to be home and raise 4 kids. Well it didn’t take longer than a “New York Heart-beat” for Dad to say, let’s do it!
Little did Roy know his Dad was not going to be the kind teacher he had envisioned in his mind? You see, Roy’s Dad was from the “Old School” and things were done only one way…. perfect. Get the picture???
Well after several threats made by Roy to take a bus home from several points all over the USA, Roy began to realize maybe this wasn’t such a good idea but being head-strong he kept on.
One memory that still remains as clear as the day is long is the time Roy thought he knew it all and decided to back the truck out of a parking stall (2 trucks deep) in a truck stop in Ohio. OMG….the truck looked like a pretzel and other drivers were blowing their air horns and yelling (not so nice things) on the CB Radio!
Roy’s Dad came out with a look on his face I’ll never forget and simply got in fixed my mess and said….’Well did you learn anything!” I could go on with many stories such as this but my point is this. Don’t ever quit…. Life is not so much about the destination….but more so it’s about the journey in getting there.”
To date Roy is very close to achieving 4 million accident free miles which he his very proud of but also understands that he would of never attained that record had it not been for a mentor, (his Dad).
Roy could go on and on here but his goal is to venture into this huge thing called the “Internet” to not only expand his passion which is a site called For Healthy Options but to hopefully share information not only about his passion but he might get lucky and actually touch someone’s life in another way?
One thing in closing, as hard as my Dad was on me, he did so because he loved me and wanted to do his best to make sure I knew what the hell I was doing out there on the highways. I never had the chance to tell him, “I love you Dad” since he passed in 1983 I go to his grave and tell him.
I hope that if someone reading this that hasn’t told someone special in their life that they love them…..that this will inspire them to do it right now!
Life is good,
Roy and Sherri
In our opinion, this quote says it all!
Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
-Martin Luther King Jr.
P.S. Although neither one of us live in a bubble….We both care very much about those that allow us to do so!
